Hello! My name is Alexandra LaMassa and this is my portfolio. I am a recent graduate of the Pennsylvania State University where I received simultaneous degrees in Telecommunications & Media Industries and Theatre Studies with a Journalism Minor.
I spent the spring semester of my junior year studying abroad at the Theatre Academy of London. Because of my education thus far, I am grateful to have been immersed in various fields of production across the world. I have been involved in performance and production recreationally from an early age and have developed professional skills through both of my degree paths at Penn State.
Most recently, I spent the latter six months of 2023 as CNN Underscored’s Social Media Intern. I supported the social team to expand their reach on social platforms including Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, X and Pinterest. I reported to the Senior Digital Content Strategist, Hannah Lauson, to create and post content daily, as well as ideate and edit video content and series across platforms. I also earned the opportunity to write an article for the website, a task rarely given to social media interns. Additionally, I developed experience with professional outreach to influencers and brands. Each month, I also collected data used to measure social performance and audience engagement. I was able to aid the team through both 2023 Amazon Prime Days, Black Friday, and holiday media coverage.
I was on the Graphic Design and Marketing team for Her Campus at Penn State, and I served as the Social Media Director. I held previous executive positions such as Twitter Chair, a position I then oversaw in my Social Media Director position. As Social Media Director, I oversaw all Her Campus at PSU social accounts: Instagram, TikTok, X and Pinterest. Since I assumed the position, we saw increased engagement and reach on all our platforms, an accomplishment I take the most pride in. I have taken many courses that have increased my knowledge of media, television, and film production in addition to stage production and journalism. I have taken film production classes in which I have learned the fundamentals of video production and how to navigate the creative and technical processes from pre-production to post-production.
